About
Don Hopkins
Don received his scientific training at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the department of psychology.
He was an experienced software developer when he arrived
at UNC and put those skills to use helping faculty researchers
and dissertation candidates with complex
statistical
programming
problems.
After completing his doctoral work Don spent
ten years at Rho, Inc., a provider of high quality clinical research
services. As Director of Software Development, he gained
expert knowledge of clinical trials data management, FDA
regulations
on
the use
of
computers
for clinical trials, and emerging standards in the pharmaceutical
industry.
Don has been an invited
speaker on data quality issues at conferences of the Drug Information
Association and the Southeast SAS Users Group. He has authored
SOPs, training materials, user manuals, on-line help systems, grant
proposals, software development plans and specifications,
technical
standards, software validation audits, and articles
for peer-reviewed scientific journals.
He is also an excellent teacher and
trainer. He has designed teaching materials and taught courses
in a variety
of settings, including undergraduate courses in psychology and
computer science, staff seminars on application software, and training
programs for new hires involved in programming and data management.
Don lives in Durham, North Carolina, with his
wife, Jenny Campbell, their son Nate, two dogs and two
cats.
